10 Ways to Increase Your Client Base

The ILC Fee Sharing Program offers attorneys a number of different ways to both increase their client base, and increase their return on investment for clients whom they have already obtained.  Think of us as a temporary co-counsel firm available for the immigration needs of your clients.

  1. Add an additional income stream from your existing client base.  It’s likely that a great number of your existing clients also have immigration related issues.  According to USCIS, between 2003 and 2006, legal immigration rose from 705,827 to 1,266,264.  In our new global economy, there is a growing need for immigration services.  Are you making the most of this opportunity? If you’re turning these cases away or just giving them away, you could be losing a significant amount of revenue.
  1. Take advantage of your location.  According to the USCIS, 64 percent of all immigrants intend to reside in either Florida, New York, California, Texas, New Jersey, or Illinois.  If you practice law in one of these states and you are not actively participating in a fee sharing program for immigration law, you are turning away from potential revenue.
  1. Maintain valuable contacts.  Our program allows attorneys to establish and maintain a relationship with clients having immigration legal needs, without the liability involved in trying to learn an entirely new field of law.
  1. We submit Press Releases to publications all over the United States whenever there is an upcoming deadline, or a major change in the law. We also send these to our preferred fee sharing attorneys. In many cases, this means they will receive the information before it even makes it to the media. Often, just making your clients aware that these changes and deadlines exist can bring them in and result in qualified potential clients.
  1. Bring in more clients. Clients who need immigration services require all kinds of other legal representation. Just adding the byline of immigration to your advertisement can bring in another whole stream of clientele. Not only can you partake in fee sharing for these cases, you can also gain a client who will very likely require additional legal services in the future. In an increasingly global economy, this is a significant percentage of your potential clients.
  1. Receive more potential clients- We use our own member database to find firms for our existing clients. Having a working relationship with other firms allows a smoother transition when we send our clients to other law firms.
  1. Efficient data management. Our online database makes it  fast and easy to enter client information and check case status and account information.
  1. High ethical standards. Don’t take chances. The quality of your partners will ultimately reflect on your firm. We adhere to Florida Bar Rule 4.1-5. Although we are well-equipped to handle all types of immigration cases, we only accept referrals from attorneys in good standing with their State Bar Association, who are available for consultation if necessary and share case responsibility.
  1. Progressive payments. Because we receive payments from clients in three installments, we split our shared payments into 3 stages for all of our partners. This way, if a client that we retain does not complete their procedure, the attorney still partakes in fee sharing for the work that has already been completed. This is built into our internal database and is handled automatically and it in no way increased the attorney's fees charged to our clients.
  1. Flexible, convenient payments. Fees are issued on a monthly basis along with a monthly statement that breaks down based on each individual case and the date of payment. This information is available on the website by logging on, with your user ID. You can also logon to the site to print these records.
  1. Fair compensation. We share fees by giving 20% of the total attorney's fee to the attorney or firm and obtain prior consent from the potential client, upon retainer, as required by Florida Bar Rule 4-1.5.

Please note that participation in this program requires you to be an attorney in good standing with your state bar association.  You will also have to adhere to Florida Bar Rule 4.1-5 and the provisions of subdivision (f)(4)(D), by being available for consultations if necessary and sharing in case liability and responsibility.  I understand that my standing with the state bar association will be confirmed before I am to be allowed to participate in ILC Law Firm's Fee Sharing Program.
